A Moline lady was sentenced Tuesday to 2 years in jail for stealing Social Security and incapacity advantages paid to the checking account of her deceased mom, in accordance with a information launch from the US Legal professional’s Workplace for the Central District of Illinois.

Michelle Crowell, 48, pleaded responsible to the cost of stealing public cash on Aug. 5. Crowell had accessed her late mom’s checking account repeatedly throughout 4 years to gather Social Security and incapacity advantages. Crowell stole a complete of $36,087 from the Social Security Administration.

The Social Security Administration’s Workplace of the Inspector Common investigated the case.  Assistant U.S. Attorneys Grant Hodges and Jennifer Mathew represented the federal government within the prosecution.
