Jean Cherni dreamed of being a author.

Her dream got here true in 2004 when she began writing a column for the New Haven Register referred to as “Senior Moments.” She continued the column for 14 years, sharing her life together with her viewers — from the passing of her husband, Val, to struggles with getting older and her adventurous journey to South Africa to satisfy giraffes.

Cherni, a beloved mom, died Monday at 93 after battling a six-month-long sickness.

Daughter Marianne Manilov mentioned she had inspired her mom to put in writing a couple of columns and ship them to native newspapers, which is how she first cemented her function as a columnist.
