Geisinger Group Well being Companies pays an $18.5 million civil penalty to resolve allegations it violated Medicare guidelines in submitting claims for hospice and residential well being care, a federal prosecutor introduced Monday.

Appearing U.S. Lawyer Bruce Brandler stated the cost covers errors in these filings submitted by Geisinger between January 2012 and December 2017.

He stated Geisinger officers found the errors and reported them to federal authorities. Brandler stated the errors concerned laws relating to doctor certifications of terminal sickness, affected person elections of hospice care, and doctor face-to-face encounters with house well being sufferers.
